Pre-Primary

Math and Me is a three-level math series for pre-primary and kindergarten children, now in its Second Edition and updated for the modern classroom. The series remains aligned with the California Common Core State Standards, focusing on early numeracy and foundational math skills.

This Second Edition has been revised to incorporate current 21st-century skills and principles of applied mathematics. It continues to help students develop skills through engaging activities, fun and colorful illustrations, and a focus on hands-on experiences.

Student’s Book:

Math and Me - Second Edition (STEM Integration) Math and Me introduces characters inspired by STEM professionals, including engineers and scientists, to stimulate young learners’ curiosity and play-based exploration. This creates early familiarity with the career pathways that utilize a STEM mindset.
The Second Edition emphasizes applied mathematics, moving beyond rote knowledge. Its richly illustrated lessons are designed to develop the required cognitive and fine motor skills that will prepare the young learner for the elementary math curriculum by focusing on designing, building, and solving real-world tasks.
The age-appropriate illustrations and pictures were carefully selected to offer visual clues and help children relate math concepts to the real world (applied mathematics), making math learning a more accessible and enjoyable process. Each lesson ends with home activities that encourage parents to be active participants in their child’s learning process and support the transition from structured tinkering to simple problem-solving.

The series offers differentiated teaching and integrates engaging STEAM activities to ensure math is taught as an integrated learning approach, not just a subject.
Math and Me lessons take into consideration the child’s early stage of literacy, cognition, and physical development, offering instructional support for all learners.
Suggestions for hands-on activities are plentiful and aim to make the lesson as student-centered as possible, supporting the teacher while allowing students the opportunity for independent discovery, fostering confidence and accomplishment.
The curriculum was inspired by the 5Es instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate), which organizes the teaching process logically to give students active participation as they experience new concepts.
Math and Me also offers Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) to make language acquisition more meaningful and math content learning more exciting for English Language Learners (ELLs)
